Again, you failed to provide a specific strategy. Kill em all ain’t a specific course of action.
As to my military service. I was lucky, the draft ended the year I was supposed to go to Vietnam.
I appreciate anyone who served their country, including yourself, but having served doesn’t make someone any better at deciding what needs to be done on the international stage.
George McGovern was a great veteran who was treated like garbage by America when he came out against the Vietnam War, even though his stance turned out to be correct.
The rest of us did what we had to do for our country and I will always be proud of the men I served with in Vietnam. You missed your chance to be part of us and you will never know if you could have measured up - or maybe you already do know.
We should have stayed in Iraq and Afghanistan in force - not some penny-ante little posts and then coward-out early like we did thanks to Obama. If we had maintained those bases and that presence, there would not have been the takeover of Iraq by Iran that's taking place and there would have been no chance that the Taliban would be back to mass executions again. Instead, we have the emergence of ISIS and Iran on rails to get nuclear weapons.
Sitting home and wishing nobody will hurt us won't work. Luckily for you and the others like you, there are people like the Marines and soldiers I served with to keep you safe. I have no use for "men" who let others do the fighting for them.
