With the US-Israel train wreck unavoidable on Tuesday, the challenge now is to pick up the pieces and refocus on thwarting Tehran
The prime minister has created the dismal situation whereby even his speech to AIPAC, a day prior to Tuesdays address to Congress, becomes somewhat problematic. Not only are Americas legislators being asked to choose between their president and the Israeli prime minister, as the veteran administration official Dennis Ross observed at the weekend. But AIPACs 16,000-strong, overwhelmingly Jewish audience, in mightily applauding Netanyahu, will be seen by some critics as endorsing a stance against the White House even though many of those 16,000 have no desire to be torn in this way.
Netanyahus handling of this face-off has been staggeringly inept, another activist volunteered, and it follows a pattern of his alienating of world leaders including but not limited to Nicolas Sarkozy and Francois Hollande and Joe Biden and of exacerbating problems for Jewish communities notably those in Europe that he has been urging to immigrate to Israel en masse.
Theres a good deal of truth in these critiques. Theres a great deal of truth, too, in the assertions from critics at home that this trip, this poking of a finger in the eye of President Barack Obama, is a calculated electoral gambit, designed to bolster support for the ostensibly unflinching Netanyahu among right-wing voters back home, to prevent them from defecting to rival parties and denying him victory on March 17. Theres no doubting the political machinations that saw the Prime Ministers Office release a short clip of Netanyahu [ ... ] filmed at the Western Wall ahead of this trip co-opting Judaisms holiest place of worship to his campaign.

really ?
I read your earlier posts
Ummm ... I’m starting to get the idea you’ve been hitting the sauce a bit hard today ... LOL ...
You weren’t reading very closely then.
You seem to have a habit of accusing people who disagree with you of being drunk, and finding that funny.
I’m giving them the “benefit of the doubt” that it’s ONLY a temporary problem of “hitting the sauce” and therefore it’s not a condition of PERPETUAL STUPIDITY! ... LOL ...
Let me come back to this post and point out a few things. My position on Israel, in general, is as a Christian Zionist and a Dispensationalist. If you know about those two things, you know you don’t get stronger support for Israel than those two positions.
SECONDLY, as far as Netanyahu is concerned, every since he’s been in the Prime Minister’s office, I’ve supported his every action. Even back when Israel had that last big altercation with Hamas, I was backing Netanyahu’s choices and actions, while others here on Free Republic were criticizing him.
NOW ... from the standpoint of the articles, I’m an analysis type of guy and these articles do provide the basis for doing an analysis of the opposition to Netanyahu ... AND ... if you understand that, then you begin to understand some of Netanyahu’s responses in his speeches.
Post #33 explains a bit of that ...
It pays to know what’s going on, even with your opposition. And in this case it explains quite a bit with Netanyahu!
Not likely.
I would hate to think it’s a case of being PERPETUALLY STUPID, but it is possible ... :-) ...
Even less likely.
Well, it’s either one or the other ... :-) ...
False dichotomies are cheap.
Obama campaign operatives have been on the ground in Israel since January, helping his opposition. We've seen them operate here and should know that "news" articles like this are common tactics in their bag of dirty tricks.
Calling people "stupid" because they're skeptical under those circumstances seems rather odd.
If someone is skeptical about my support of Netanyahu, when all my comments about Netanyahu ... here today, and years in the past ... have been 100% in support ... means ... they are either hitting the sauce and are temporarily impaired, or, they are perpetually stupid. I don’t see any other options, other than mentally incapacitated ... LOL ...
That articles you've been choosing to post don't seem to line up with that very well.
They tell about the opposition to Neyanyahu and explain what he says in his speeches, which doesn’t make sense to some Americans and some FReepers.
Any operative for Netanyahu will know thoroughly what is going on with the opposition, what they think, how what they say plays with the public, and what their level of support is.
Support of Netanyahu is half of the equation and knowing his opposition is the other half. In addition, just knowing things from an American political perspective is not going to help people understand why Netanyahu acts the way he does (and say what he says). This has to be known from an ISRAELI perspective.
Post #33 goes into a bit of that.
AND ... I’ll be posting more of what Netanyahu has to face in Israel ... in a few future articles, too.
I find rather curious the number of articles you post that quickly devolve into name calling and flame wars.
See who starts slinging mud ... :-) ...
Pray. God is the only one that can help.
Find the common denominator.
When the mud comes my direction, I know what direction to throw it back at ... LOL ...
In the end, I do know what God intends to do ... He intends to save ISRAEL from utter destruction and have a remnant for himself. God has said that Israel will be a nation before him forevermore.
NOW ... as to how far along we are, according to what the Bible says, I can’t tell right now. We could be a year from it all starting, as the Bible says, or perhaps a decade out. But I wouldn’t say it’s more than a couple of decades.
