I don’t care if the child is late every single day, this “punishment” is ridiculous and if it were my child, I would be furious.
Who do these people think they are? All the more reason to home school if possible.
You would care if your child was in a class that was disrupted continuously by a careless parents failure to get her kid there on time. I am betting a kid who is “1 minute late” causes the loss of 10 minutes of the teachers time getting him in, settled and ready to work. I might not agree with the cardboard but the kid should be sent to the office every time he is late and an aide required to bring himi to class and get him ready to start working. He will still miss at least 10 minutes of every day and any quiz or starting assignment which should be made up during solitary lunch
If this happens regularly then the school should contact social, services about his tardiness
Humiliating a child is not the solution. Betcha prin missy fitzsimmons would not allow her precious progeny to be publicly ostracized in this way.
An incompetent administrator and mindless of the harm done to children who are punished for a “crime” beyond the child’s control.
I wonder, for the homeschoolers, what would you do if you had a student who was consistently tardy? Would they face any “punishment”?
If not, why not? What makes this student “special”? Why are the students who arrive punctually subject to the disruption of one student?
If so, what would you view as an acceptable form of corrective behavior?
Kids showing up late interrupts the entire class. The teacher has to repeat everything for one special little snowflake and the rest of the class gets annoyed. Back in the day, we got spankings, had to sit in the office and miss all of class or had our desk moved into the hall. Sitting by himself is a very mild punishment. Maybe, tomorrow, little snowflake will encourage Mama Snowflake to get her butt into gear and get him to school on time.
