Members of Congress Skipping Netanyahu’s Speech (Boycott reaches 40 according to Iran lobby)
NIAC ^ | Updated February 27, 2015 at 9:39 PM

Arizona

Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ)

California

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA)

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) — “I am disappointed Speaker Boehner chose to irresponsibly interject politics into what has long been a strong and bipartisan relationship between the United States and Israel. As President Obama has noted, it is inappropriate for a Head of State to address Congress just two weeks ahead of their election. I agree that Congress should not be used as a prop in Israeli election campaigns, so I intend to watch the speech on TV in my office.”

Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-CA) — “Rep. McNerney is not planning to attend the speech. He’s got several previously planned commitments for that day.”

Colorado

Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO)

Ohio

Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-OH)

Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH)

Georgia

Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA)

Rep. John Lewis (D-GA)

Hawaii

Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) — “The U.S.-Israel relationship is too important to be overshadowed by partisan politics,” said Schatz in a statement. “I am disappointed in the Republican leadership’s invitation of Prime Minister Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress with the apparent purpose of undermining President Obama’s foreign policy prerogatives.”

Illinois

Rep. Danny Davis (D-IL)

Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-IL)

Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL)

Indiana

Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN)

Kentucky

Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY) — “We know what he is going to say. Netanyahu’s position on the ongoing negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program is not a secret. Like many other members, I have been visited by the Israeli ambassador and understand what they want and how that differs from what U.S. negotiators are attempting to accomplish.”

Louisiana

Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-LA)

Maine

Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-ME)

Maryland

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD)

Rep. Donna Edwards (D-MD)

Massachussetts

Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA) — “This invitation came without consulting the President or State Department and with the false representation that it was a bi-partisan invitation. Speaker Boehner has poisoned a critical foreign policy discussion with partisan gamesmanship.”

Rep. Jim McGovern (D-MD) “I have been and will continue to be a strong supporter of Israel, but the timing and circumstances of this speech are deeply troubling.”

Minnesota

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN)

Rep. Betty McCollum (D-MN) — “I will respectfully abstain from attending Mr. Netanyahu’s campaign rally.”

Mississippi

Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS)

New Mexico

Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM)

New York

Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-NY)

Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) — “The whole thing is a nightmare in diplomacy.”

North Carolina

Rep. G.K. Butterfield (D-NC)

Rep. David Price (D-NC)

Oregon

Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) — “For the sake of diplomacy, peace, and respect for our ally Israel, to say nothing of stability in the Middle East, Speaker Boehner must cancel the joint session of Congress with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. If he does not, I will refuse to be part of a reckless act of political grandstanding.”

Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-OR)

South Carolina

Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC)

Tennessee

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) — “The Prime Minister’s use of the U.S. House chamber as a stage to argue against the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear program, which is currently being negotiated among Iran and the P5+1 — the United States, Russia, China, France, the United Kingdom and Germany, is reckless.”

Texas

Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) — “The Congresswoman has no plans to attend the speech at this time,” a spokeswoman said.

Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX)

Virginia

Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) — “There is no reason to schedule this speech before Israeli voters go to the polls on March 17 and choose their own leadership.”

Vermont

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) — “They have orchestrated a tawdry and high-handed stunt that has embarrassed not only Israel but the Congress itself.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) — “I’m not thinking of not going. I am not going. I may watch it on TV.”

Washington

Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) — “I do not intend to attend the speech of Bibi. The whole event is to shore up Bibi’s political campaign. It also may reflect an attempt to gum up the negotiations with Iran. Side benefit is to make the president look weak.”

Washington, D.C.

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC)

The Republicans should invite war veterans to take the seats.

I guess Bibi can claim racism since the majority of those not attending are black.

We probably need a senate resolution passed and distributed that says “Here Ye Here Ye, be it known far and wide by all manner of men that though our state department and lame duck president may negotiate a treaty with the criminal republic of Iran, be it known that this Senate will not any treaty negotiated by the current president, nor his state department, nor the wookie he is married to.”

With the blacks all no-shows, watch for them to point out the racist white people in the audience.

Does McDumbass realize that is it impossible to negotiate with Iran? That it’s like negotiating with a turnip? It’s a completely delusional idea and a huge waste of time because they are negotiating with people who are completely insane. Maybe McDumbass should take a trip to his local psyche ward and see if he can squeeze out any kind of rational thinking from a patient going through the worst kind of a psychotic meltdown because that’s the kind of crap a person deals with when they are dealing with Iran. That’s why I call this whole thing a scam, this crap with Kerry “making deals with Iran” it’s all one huge farce who sole purpose is to ultimately bring destruction to Israel. I mean come on, a traitor as US President and a traitor as Secretary of state, what could *possibly* go wrong, right?

Notice some of those who cared enough to comment did so with RESPECT!!! What they are doing is so disrespectful, there simply aren’t enough words to describe it.

They need to tell the truth for once and let us all know just WHY they are staying away. On their own or pressure from the WH?? So they are perfectly ok giving Iran all it wants in those stupid negotiations. VERY STUPID PEOPLE!

You do insult to homeless bums. Just put in rabbits and birds in their places and America would improve. These democrats and rinos need to go away now and forever.

Democrats sitting on evidence that Iran is aiding the terrorists and this a-hole wants to cozy up to them! How much more evidence do we need to prove this president is enabling the terrorism around the world. When is a leader going to step forward and do something to save this country?

This is a good thing. These enemies of Israel and of Jews (and these enemies include many American Jews) are placing flashing signs on their foreheads to publicly identify themselves.

What an interesting way to clear the air, the separate the sheep from the goats. All of them have, by now, heard from both sides and had sufficient time to gauge the character of the kinds of people and the methods employed in pressing upon them their responsibility.

What we will know better, perhaps, after all is said and done, is who among them has any fear of God, any knowledge of the scriptures, any discernment whatsoever?

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

Hopefully, now that they’ve announced their intention not to attend, Boehner will have seating arranged accordingly.

Then, if they change their minds, oh well, grab a mat and sit on the floor.

Is there a way that WE can hear the speech? Too bad the Republicans didn’t invite normal people to come hear the speech and take up space. Of course, I’d have to disinfect the Dem seat first.

They should lock the doors after Bibi gets started and have cameras outside asking these morons why they are opposed to Israel and support the Islamists.
