Report: Ted Cruz Is Staffing Up in Iowa
National Review ^ | February 25, 2015 5:09 PM | ELIANA JOHNSON

Posted on 02/25/2015 2:48:06 PM PST by SoConPubbie

Reports are beginning to pop that Ted Cruz is on the brink of hiring the men who will run his campaign in Iowa, a state the Texas senator believes he very much has the chance to win come January 2016.

A well-sourced Republican operative in the state tells me Cruz is hiring 2002 Senate candidate Bill Salier, who run Tom Tancredo’s 2008 presidential campaign, and Bryan England, who has served as aide to both Iowa congressman Steve King and Bob Vander Plaats, the three-time Republican gubernatorial candidate and political activist. A spokesman for Cruz did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Craig Robinson, a former political director of the Iowa Republican party who chronicles political developments in the state on his blog The Iowa Republican, said Wednesday afternoon that “word on the street” was that Cruz was in the process of hiring both Salier and England. He tweeted the following:

Word on the street is that @tedcruz is in the process of hiring 2002 US Senate candidate Bill Salier and Bryan English to run Iowa campaign. — Craig Robinson (@IowaGOPer) February 25, 2015

Third string figures. Cruz can do better.

I'd rather have reliable, trustworthy, actual conservative aids to help me run a campaign, then the alternative.

********

I was going to ask about their capabilities. You’re answer doesn’t sound like they are
the top notch operatives in the state. For preliminary work they maybe okay with
the intent to change is he truly makes the effort.

Iowa relies on face to face campaigning. Locals to line up private homes to stay in and who know local venues for meet-and-greets and to keep track of media interviews work fine. Big strategists might even be a handicap.

Very sad.

At this time, he doesn’t appear to be the man I thought he was.

From the article:

Cruz indicating he will not try to hold up clean DHS bill. Says nothing will be gained by a delay of 12, 24 or 36 hours.

Doesn't take much to shake your faith, does it?!

Just a misleading headline.

Thank you God for Ted Cruz. I feel like I’m wandering in a vast desert of republican mediocrity, starving for a leader with the requisite vision and skills to articulate a compelling argument for the benefits of returning to limited government and more individual freedom. He refuses to accept liberal premises, and uses their lexicon against them.

I watched most of the speeches at that republican meeting a few weeks ago, and Ted was a freaking rock star there, eliciting uproarious applause. And when King kicked off the last segment of the meeting, in which Cruz was about to speak, he referred to that segment as the “main event”, and boy, was it. In case you didn’t see it, Ted proceeded to speak extemporaneously and without even once approaching the podium for about 25 minutes.

No candidate is perfect, of course, but IMO it is not even close with this slate of republican hopefuls.

Yes, it’s becoming more and more evident that Fox is, for some reason, at least partially boycotting covering Cruz. They seem to downplay anything to do with him, i.e., when they were presenting the polls after that last conservative conference in Iowa, they would always cut the poll results off at whomever the person was just above Cruz.

Yep. Fox News snubbing Cruz is noticeable.

Plenty of Linda Graham though.

Something will be gained by the elected representatives of the American people voting to fund the illegal amnesty of a tyrant.

And that is the fall of a once great country.

It takes a lot to shake my faith.

I’m sorry, but I cannot support or vote for a man who just voted to push this country closer to its downfall at the hands of a tyrant and at the hands of quislings.

Very little time remains for America, and any delay is critical.

Sorry, this stinks.

Salier is viewed very favorably with Iowa conservatives. Not sure about his strategery, but a solid name nonetheless.
