Yes. They never realize external “approval” will never give them what they want. They will always know they are not normal, they will always be reminded of it because there are normal people out there and they see them. They know in their heads they are not normal because they hear the voice that tells them they are not normal. They cannot run from it because it’s inside them. So no outside voice is going to overcome that.

What it is is coming to grips about your own personal weaknesses. There are people that don’t want to see themselves as sinful, weak people who like certain things they know they should not like and are not helpful to them as people. They think it will all go away by redifining it as good behavior, approved behavior, and having forced celebration about said behavior onto others. And punishing those who remind them it’s not good behavior and they need to change. Of course it doesn’t make it go away because it cannot make it go away. Only admitting it is sinful and weak behavior they like, then dealing with it every day, like everyone else who has sins they like but fight against every day, does. It’s called biblical self-control.

They want none of that. They will never be genuinely content people. They are implacable because one cannot be content in a state of deliberate disharmony/sinfulness. Impossible.

understood.

1. asking the ‘state’ for moral approval of anything is like asking a whore to write you a recommendation letter for the nunnery

2. many of us have no desire to hurt them or interfer with their private behavior so long as they don’t hurt anyone

3 it seems to me that is about as much as they’re likely to achieve .... a live and let live response from the larger society....which does allow them to have
their ‘lifestyles’

just my 2 cents
