Also, it is absolutely true that the 11th Commandment in and of itself is proof of my point. President Reagan (the first and second votes I cast for president) was far more forgiving of those who did not adhere to every point of conservatism than many in the conservative movement today.

Typical retreat trying to smear President Reagan.

And what is this "11th Commandment" that you refer to? It's a damn myth made-up by RINOs trying to marginalize conservatives.

Ronald Reagan is the ONLY Republican in modern times to challenge a SITTING REPUBLICAN PRESIDENT for the GOP nomination and he did it by smearing Ford's liberal policies.

Reagan lived by the 11th Amendment and conservatism flourished.

1976 “impromptu” Convention speech by Reagan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-p-Nuu8hYQ

here is a take on the 1976 primary

http://www.historynet.com/gerald-fords-near-miracle-of-1976.htm

Reagan might have won had he NOT tried to woo moderates at the convention by saying he would ask Schweiker to be his running mate.

Compromising is a loser strategy.
