Could, my guess el Sissi will be thinking of a secular “caliphate” along the lines of the failed UAR. I could see Turkey toying with the idea of a religious caliphate. ISIS is laying the the groundwork, but the Turks could run over them. And it was their land for centuries.

The problem with the “Caliphate” is it has 1 Caliph, and no borders. All the Islamic lands fall under it. So the problem has always been, who gets to lead? That fact has lead to endless wars in Islam, and will be it’s ultimate downfall again. It has all the practicality of pure Communism as envisioned by Marx.
