If a woman uses her firearm to keep herself from getting raped that is a good thing. If in so doing she removes a rapist from this planet and prevents several other women from being attacked/raped that is a great thing.

There's also the deterrence benefit. Once would-be rapists realize their intended victims may be armed and that getting their sick kicks may become a life-or-death proposition... Well, that should put a damper on all rapes.
