It is not possible to win elections by telling voters you will be more liberal than the Dems.
This is not a Middle School popularity contest.
You win by standing on principle....CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLE!!!
As has been noted many times here in FR：
1. The number one goal of the GOPe is to destroy conservatives and conservative ideas.
2. That goal takes precedence over winning elections.
3. There is a lot of evidence that the GOPe does not want the presidency, that they like being the servants of a DNC master in the White House. (Not sure exactly way, but listen to Karl Rove et al and you can't reach any other conclusion.)
