In 1999, a British company, Coral Capital Group Ltd., entered into a minority partnership with the Castro regime to transform (a then-dilapidated) Hotel Saratoga into a chic, modern, 5-star property.
“Coral Capital invested over $75 million in its partnership with Castro.
“In 2005, the Hotel Saratoga reopened as the swankiest hotel in Havana.
But, as always, Castro got greedy and wanted it all for himself.
Thus, in 2011, Castro confiscated Coral Capital’s minority stake in the Hotel Saratoga.”
I have ZERO sympathy for these fools. Anyone with an ounce of common sense would have known this would happen
I couldn’t agree more, they were idiots for investing in communist Cuban, just as 0bama and his administration are idiots for investing in the Castro’s under their conditions.
Agreed, it's like being surprised when you give an ISIS terrorist a jobs program to help them and they cut your head off. Or like petting a tiger and it bites your hand off. Or like a Republican giving up principle and dealing with a liberal only to have the liberal pull the carpet out from under you.
Executives like this remind me of Harry Ellis in the first "Die Hard" movie. He was the sleazy Nakatomi executive who assumed he could flash a saccharine smile, keep saying "babe", and negotiate between Hans and McClane for the return of the detonators. McClane refuses to return them, causing Gruber to execute Ellis. Couldn't have happened to a nicer douchebag.
Thus to all corporate suits who think they are above antiquated concepts like patriotism and fidelity to the societies that made you wealthy in the first place.
Yep.
I knew someone who was planning to buy property and build a house in Mexico.
That person was crazy. They can decide at any time just to take your property, no questions asked, particularly if you aren’t a Mexican national.
