I don’t ask permission. As an American, I consider that offensive. I’m also a law abiding citizen - I carry openly. I WILL NOT ask permission to carry, or purchase, a firearm.
You should also consider that several states now are pursuing Constitutional carry. My state is one. Theyre continuing the permitting process for those interested in carry outside our state. So, its not as black & white as you believe. THings are changing despite you.
