I read the book, and except for a couple of SM-bondage “scenes”, I don’t know what everyone is making such a big deal about. Not written very well, either. I think most of the people making judgements haven’t actually READ the book.
I read this crap in 2013. I never hear anyone mention is the fact that the main character (Grey) was molested by an older woman when he was a teen. His molester introduced him to the S & M crap and he continued to see her throughout the book (although he swears he is no longer intimate with her).
Or seen the movie. I didn’t read but we went and saw the movie. No big deal, most people commenting obviously have done neither. All worked up about something they have little accurate knowledge about. Both parties willing and consenting. It’s just a story. Really? 3/4 of a billion and you and I are the only ones who went? Movies are expensive but not that much. Geez maybe I should check my receipt.
