Tonight, she joined Wolf Blitzer on CNNs The Situation Room and attempted to clarify her point.
Im not the first person to say something like this, Harf said. Military commanders that weve had throughout many years here fighting this war on terrorism have said the exact same thing, that in the short term when theres a threat like ISIL. Well take direct military action against these terrorists. We have done that. We are doing that in Iraq and Syria. But longer term, we have to look at how we combat the conditions that can lead people to turn to extremism.
So you suggested that maybe if you find these young men jobs, they might not become terrorists? Blitzer asked, echoing her critics, prompting Harf to call his statement a gross oversimplification.
We cannot kill every terrorist around the world, nor should we try, Harf said later. How do you get at the root causes of this? It might be too nuanced an argument for some, like Ive seen over the last 24 hours some of the commentary out there, but its really the smart way that Democrats, Republicans, our partners in the Arab world think we need to combat it.
Asked how shes dealing with the criticism she has been receiving for her comments, Harf said, I dont read it.

Stop that!
Harf has a master’s degree in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia. She worked for the CIA before she came to State. This is a highly educated woman. (Yet even she realizes how stupid she sounds, having taken to wearing fake eyeglasses in order to look smarter)
This is precisely what crazy-eyes Dean had in mind when he talked about the need for government officials to have college degrees.
We really ought to get down on our knees and kiss their *sses.
“”And its my opinion that this fine lady go over to the Middle East where she can promote a jobs program to the leaders of ISIL.””
I’d chip in for her ticket but she’d probably fly at taxpayer expense anyway! Just get her out of our hair, please. And also the other teeny bopper Psaki !!!
She be too smart for you.
She is obviously a nuanced tootsie roll sucker...
“In fact, if someone less smart than themselves comes up with something, they reason it must not be worth considering. That is why when they develop a “narrative,” to explain a situation to themselves, they cannot be moved off the point.”
I saw this in the Colorado firearms restriction fight. You can make the point over and over that bad guys don’t follow the law. So background checks and magazine bans will have NO effect on murders, crime rates, or school shootings. All are conducted by people who have decided not to obey the law. They don’t buy their Glocks at FFL’s. They buy them on Colfax Ave.
You can go through the point slowly or quickly. You can dress it up in academic fine words or plain talk. It doesn’t matter. When you talk about it, it’s as if you aren’t there.
Shes a three hole, hit it and quit it.
“Pump her and Dump her”....roger.
Were all too stupid for her.
I only have one comment on her nuance - she’s suggesting that their beef is an economic one. Even she knows that if it were about that, the Shah would still be in power.
Those young men HAD jobs once.
We could hand them all the gold in the world, and then all agree - Jews and Christians - to commit suicide.
They’d just set about to killing each other - Sunni against Shiite.
"...like Ive seen over the last 24 hours some of the commentary out there...".
But, when asked how shes dealing with the criticism she has been receiving for her comments, Harf said, I dont read it.
Gives blondes a bad name.
“Marie, youre an idiot (nuanced enough for you?)”
Good comment Stosh. Nuance is highly overrated. It confuses rather than clarifies. Liberals prefer to use nuance to hide their lack of ability to focus.
These people are full on batquava insane.
She has a poli-sci undergrad from IU Bloomington
It was either that DC job or selling blouses at Forever 21...
#isisjobs #newpostings Asst. Director of Nuance. Must be able to explain clearly the logic behind beheadings, burnings and child killings. Reply to: marie@usstatedept.
