What the West really needs to take on the Islamic State is ... a jobs program.
That's what a top State Department spokeswoman suggested when asked in a TV interview Monday night about what the U.S.-led coalition is doing to stop the slaughter of civilians by Islamic State militants across the region.
"We're killing a lot of them, and we're going to keep killing more of them. ... But we cannot win this war by killing them," department spokeswoman Marie Harf said on MSNBC's "Hardball." "We need ... to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it's lack of opportunity for jobs, whether --"
At that point, Harf was interrupted by host Chris Matthews, who pointed out, "There's always going to be poor people. There's always going to be poor Muslims."

Not a bad idea. If they’re funding the Daesh, a violent death is entirely appropriate.
Shouldn’t be drones, though. unless the targets are already in a failed state like Yemen, Syria, Libya, etc. False flag assassinations are better, as are apparent “workplace accidents.” The real problem will be dealing with state actors. Killing Saudi royals will be really embarrassing all ‘round.
Right.
A lot of the people we need to off are in the US State Department...
We are being governed by effing idiots.
We are in so much danger because of them. Worldwide danger.
Yep, and they are going to get many of us killed.
The Commemorative Susan Rice Video Room is on the lower level (/snix).
If they have managed to get a lot of the “civilized” world behind them, then I doubt there is any mortal power that can do anything about it any more.
Yes, your are correct.
This morning Harf is pitching this piece.

U.S. Intensifies Effort to Blunt ISIS Message (Rashad Hussain new CSCC Director)
NY Times ^ | February 16, 2015 | ERIC SCHMITT
WASHINGTON The Obama administration is revamping its effort to counter the Islamic States propaganda machine, acknowledging that the terrorist group has been far more effective in attracting new recruits, financing and global notoriety than the United States and its allies have been in thwarting it.
At the heart of the plan is expanding a tiny State Department agency, the Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications, to harness all the existing attempts at countermessaging by much larger federal departments, including the Pentagon, Homeland Security and intelligence agencies.
(snip)
The new director will be Rashad Hussain, a Muslim American who has close ties to the White House and is currently the special envoy to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

I thought it was Harf who was the blond idiot. How is it possible that she is still emplyed by our government, seriesly.
The stupid. It hurts.
Oh, never mind them. Obama wants to keep them on the Democrat plantation, with food stamps and Obamaphones, where they'll vote for him and his pals.
its amazing that so many people can be counted on to vote for living on the dole
I wonder if the ISIS jobs will require them to work more than 29 hours a week. If so, they will have to be furnished Obamacare. Will they be union jobs? Should I look for the ISIS seal of approval in the phone book for any handyman jobs I need done around the house?
