When I told my friends in New Jersey nearly ten years ago that I was packing my bags and heading south, they thought Id lost my mind. ...(snip)......When I told them I had no desire to inherit the pension liabilities that New Jerseys public unions and politicians were irresponsibly saddling on their own citizens, things got downright gloomy......(snip)
Last month, in a move that shocked residents of northern New Jersey, Daimlers Mercedes-Benz USA announced it was moving its headquarters from Montvale (just miles from where I grew up) to Sandy Springs, Ga. And its bringing nearly 1,000 people along with it, at an average salary of nearly $80,000 per worker.

Liberalism is a parasite and needs a host to live.
that is true, but that’s a different topic.....but yes, very true.
Nobody is calling for interstate tariffs you disingenuous < expletive deleted >. Tariff-ing off shored imported Chinese made crap has NOTHING to do with the story you posted.
Awesome, baby. I can’t wait for the General Lee version of the CLS400.
” Yeah, but the concern is the liberalism of the NJ folks will infect GA. “
Well, liberalism first “infected” New Hampshire, then moved the disease to California, and other parts of the west. Now it will infect the south. Happy days : )
Fixed.
Too bad the folks in GA have to deal with 1,000 NJ immigrants.
you win the all time non sensical non sequitur award with that one.....here you are shown exactly how it’s done with several real life examples of very upper end and significant manufacturing successes in this country, and you remain obsessed with China and tariffs. Here cars being SOLD in China are being MADE in the south.
And nice to know you want to hold onto our liberalism, which to your mind means making us a third world country. Wow, what an equation.
It is simply wrong to think that this will cause Georgia to be infected. It is wrong to assume a static situation, where none of these examples will ever start to show people why liberalism fails and conservatism works.
It is really an odd reaction to look at this as negative.
WOULD YOU PLEASE KEEP YOUR BIG MOUTH SHUT!
for those who understand economics, it has EVERYTHING to do with tariffs and the China obsession, With those who would flunk econ 101, I’m sure it’s difficult to connect the dots.
...hey, pleeze use FTA in front of a quote when you’re slamming the author of the article...not the poster. ...:)
You are trying to connect China to this article. Apples and oranges.
Montvale used to be the USHQ for many European car manufacturers.
Ok, you are using an example of a German company who on shored manufacturing in the USA (good) moving their HQ from NJ to GA (good) to support your argument against tariff-ing US based companies running away from the USA and off shoring in a communist country. Doesn’t get any more f-ed up than that.
Keen insight! If we want to pull the rug out from under China—or anything else—just export “Liberalism”. It’ll destroy it forthwith.
That’s the least of your worries. Due to the high cost of living and real estate price in NJ, a sudden influx to another area raises prices there. Happened here in Charleston SC. Back in the 80s primo homes were going for around $80,000. Same home in NJ would cost half a million at that time. We had a major influx of transplants from NJ. Point is that houses here went up 20 to 40 thousand dollars from that and the effects on the local real estate market is still being felt here to this day.
