Actually there was a massive court martial trial but the lead Captain accepted ALL the blame and the rest were let off light.

Each Captain was charged as tradition says all are responsible for their ship, it was the largest group of officers ever court-Martial by the navy to that point.

Captain Watson, the lead commander of the exercise was stripped of his seniority, 3 others were admonished but the rest were acquitted because he took all the blame. How cool was he to do that? Apparently he came out of it looking good for taking all the blame - like a boss(?)
