Don’t get me wrong. The ANC are commies and the place is going to be Cuba or worse.
But this reminds me of the lady in Zimbabwe who periodically posts reports of the imminent doom of all the white farmers and how the barbarians are at the gates and the “killing fields” have begun. Then, you turn on TV and there’s a nature special or a golf tournament and ... ???
I used to rant and rave at foreign service people I knew who would talk about how great a post in Zimbabwe was. “Don’t you know they’re bloodthirsty communists?” I thought they were horrible com-symps.
In hindsight, Zimbabwe is still there. The white farmers haven’t all been murdered. Sucks to live under Mugabe. But they’re there. I think we want to fear the worst of darkest Africa. But, I suspect this report is a little dramatic.
Oh, and AIDS didn’t wipe out sub-Saharan Africa either. And neither will the Ebola scare.
