IRS: We’re Sorry for Seizing Small Business Bank Accounts
PJ Media ^ | 2/11/15 | Liz Sheld

Posted on 02/11/2015 5:20:13 PM PST by Libloather

The IRS has apologized for stealing, or rather seizing, the back accounts of small businesses that did nothing other than deposit an improper amount of cash into their accounts.

Pressured by Congress, the IRS has apologized for seizing banks accounts from otherwise law-abiding business owners simply because those owners structured bank transactions to avoid federal reporting requirements.

The Associated Press reports “IRS Commissioner John Koskinen told Congress Wednesday that the IRS is changing policies to prevent the seizures, as long as the money came from legal means.”

Civil asset forfeiture is a government racket where “suspicious” deposits at one’s banking institution trigger an investigation from the IRS, usually ending in the seizure of money in the account. There does not need to be any criminal charge or standard met before the IRS moves in and freezes your accounts, merely the suspicion of illegal activity.

I have an account that has a “savings plan” (the program is by the bank) that deposits a small amount into it every month... is the IRS going to seize it because it is suspicious?????

I am beginning to think barnhardt has a very valid point...

So how do I get my cash out, to put it under my mattress (oops, I mean in my boat, which is barely seaworthy)?

A few years ago, I sold a nice 21 foot runabout we had owned for several years. The Nebraska guy brought $11,000 in cash, plus a $1,000 check.

My banker called, asking where the 11 Grand came from and I sent him my bill of sale.

I’m sure he was asked by someone...

A legacy of the War on Drugs, this one from 1970 =>

_________________________________________________________________

The Bank Secrecy Act of 1970 (or BSA, or otherwise known as the Currency and Foreign Transactions Reporting Act) requires financial institutions in the United States to assist U.S. government agencies to detect and prevent money laundering.

Specifically, the act requires financial institutions to keep records of cash purchases of negotiable instruments, and file reports of cash purchases of these negotiable instruments of more than $10,000 (daily aggregate amount), and to report suspicious activity that might signify money laundering, tax evasion, or other criminal activities.

I too have been quoted by Rush. I didn’t hear it but got a couple dozen pings telling me about it. About 8-10 years ago. I basked in the fame for a while, then went about my mundane life.

My “15 minutes of fame” lasted about 2 minutes.

Any known employee of the IRS needs to be beaten into submission to quit the IRS. Not killed, just beaten hard. They did it to other American's at some point and caused a lot of American's harm. Since our politicians (who will be next) don't seem to want to listen, leave the IRS in a state that NO ONE would dare work for them. When the government sends out "protection" services for the tax collectors; well, it becomes obvious...Hurt where it hurts most. Go after the protectors families because at that point there is no doubt; it government against us.

Tomorrow morning, when you first wake up. Ask yourself one thing while taking a loooooooong look around your surroundings; "Can I point out one thing the government has not some how taxed or otherwise regulated" and ask yourself that BEFORE you even look in a mirror.

>>>Didn’t Rush Limbaugh go through something like this about fifteen years ago? He made a series of $9500 withdrawals from his bank account, and the IRS (or some government agency) accused him of “structured transactions” or some such.

Yes, but in that case the law seemed to work as planned, since Rush was making $9,900 withdrawals to fraudulently purchase prescription drugs to feed his opiate addiction.

"Not one person in jail for anything perpetrated by these criminals."

Think about how many times Jackbooted government thugs have killed innocent people in no knock raids or on Ramboed-up full blown property invasions and but a hand full even got reprimanded.

Ruby Ridge a Federal Sniper blew a hole in an innocent mother's head while she was holding her baby. He didn't even get a slap on the hands let alone being tried for murder.

If the gub'ment can get away with murder stealing doesn't even count as a crime.

Way past due. However, the IRS is starting to sense that with a new Republican Congress and Obama willing to throw anyone under the bus that they had better work on being a little more respectful of the US Constitution.

If we had representatives that truly represent us, the IRS would be out of business and probably 90% of their “higher ups” would be in jail.

I saw that story on Yahoo News. It may have been posted here - I don’t recall.

What I do recall was that there were almost 4000 comments at the time I read it. I skimmed through quite a few, and not one was anything but hostile to the Gov’t and the IRS, and most were hostile to our Chief Thief (Obama).

I doubt the Pubs would ever rescind the Income Tax, and the Dems certainly never will, but it seems to me this would be a hot issue for the TEA Party to seize and make some hay, by focusing on the IRS excesses and tie them to excesses throughout the gov’t.

Obviously, going to something like an end-consumer sales tax would be VERY difficult to push through, because it would take so much power away from the gov’t. But, that’s exactly the argument that needs to be made, and the pointing out of all the tyranny the IRS metes out proves the same thing the Native Americans found out about the government...

That means you still have 13 minutes left!
