Governments cover catastrophic costs - that’s what a decent society should do to keep people from bankrupting themselves due to unforeseen expenses.
By the same token, the government should not be telling people how to take care of their health and to pay for every day medical expenses. If people can afford to pay for it, they should.
We need to separate the urgent from the non-essential and not have government do everything. That doesn’t work at all.
They do? How did people afford catastrophic costs prior to Medicare and Medicaid then?
