I understand not throwing tissue down the crapper if it’s on a septic system. But is it against the law to throw it down there period?

Not against the law, the plumbing is sub standard, so for practical purposes, better not to put it in the toilet.

LOL. Those of us with septics just get it pumped every year or two. I am not having a pile of poop covered paper in a can next to me-yech. I see this a lot in the Hispanic restaurants in the area.
