It shows how foreign and alien this guy is to us.
The Crusades had low points, but I don’t recall being taught to think it was a bad idea in general.
The reason it happened was Muslim hordes overrunning the Holy Land.
Preventing them from ruling over Christians was and is a laudable goal. I don’t recall anyone contradicting that notion.
But it’s a problem for the Muslim kid from the dusty streets of Djakarta. Not shocking.
But why do we call him “one of us” and consent to let him rule over us?
