"Christie throwing his weight around again?"

I don't know if there's any merit to these accusations, but consider the fact that in recent years Christie, Palin, Scott Walker, and Rick Perry have all been subjected to a barrage of ethical complaints just when they began to emerge as national figures. In virtually all of these cases to date, they have eventually been exonerated, but only after having had their reputations dragged through the mud.

So my question is: Is this a tactic of Democrats to preemptively destroy any potential Republican candidate by launching far-fetched ethical complaints against them, complaints which perhaps irrevocably tarnish the candidate while using up valuable time and resources?

Yup, this has been a dem tactic for some time and with quite a bit of success - remember Sen Stevens from Alaska, and Delay in Tx and others?
