Terribly sad, and a despicable crime. I went to a camp like that when I was a kid. Camp Y-Noah, still operating. I couldn’t wait for school to be over so I could go! What terror these beautiful children went through! I am disgusted!

I was a Girl Scout and spent parts or all of ten wonderful summers at Camp Scott as a child and then as a young adult, and those summers were a strong positive influence upon my life as an adult. The murders were an incredible tragedy to the families and to all of us. The problem with Camp Scott was that it was one of hundreds of traditional camps, one which had operated quite well for about 50 years way out in the sticks, so to speak. So the council operated with the ongoing assumption we were all still living in a 1950’s type Mayberry world, and the level of security reflected that. Also, after a horrific event like this one, memories do tend to get embellished, perhaps, at times, if only because we are trying to make sense of evil, and so prior warnings of the event may get discovered; don’t put too much weight on them or totally scorn them either, for the people involved were trying to understand what happened and why. Remember that this was like a bolt out of the blue for Scout camps, councils, and Scouts everywhere back then, and it totally changed Girl Scout camps into hyper-paranoid encampments, frankly, because our glorious new modern world requires that now. And Scouting itself has greatly changed, but that is another topic. The picture of the Red Barn in this article kind of takes on a symbolic look on several levels to me.

I would take a closer look at the counselors. What kinds of men did they have relationships with?

Strange that a “note” should show up in the counselor’s tent with a warning.

2 people involved...one male, one female? The female raping with an instrument while the male did his business to the other girl?

I do wish the Cold Case gals would get onto this one.

Well, yes, if one of them was a wackadoodle Manson girl type with a pedophile boyfriend.

She could provide access by making sure the out-of-the-way tent that no one could observe would be used by the three youngest, weakest girls. She could “set up” the other counselors by making the odd noises herself after they had all gone to bed. She could pretend to be checking out the tents, while actually acting as a lookout.

These male-female tag team serial killers are the nuttiest and the worst.

Obviously someone knew they were there, either someone lived within seeing/hearing distance or they had info on when the bus would get there.

The show is very good and holds your attention. There's no hype in it as with other reality shows. These ladies are retired investigators and they truly put their hearts into every case. If I'm not mistaken, the lady with the long hair was a Las Vegas CSI and Marg Helgenberg's character, from the show, is based on her.

Wasn’t there a more “recent” case in Oklahoma of two young girls, possibly related, being slain while walking down a country road together. And I don’t recall hearing anyone was connected to the case.

You can contact them and suggest a cold case to the team.

Will do.

Although they probably get a thousand requests every day.

I looked at the page and you either have to be a member of law enforcement or have some personal connection to the crime and then make the request through whichever detective is/was handling your cold case.

That makes sense.

I do not qualify.

But maybe someone who does qualify, and is reading about this case, will bring it to their attention.

I believe a boyfriend of one of the girl’s older sisters has been implicated in that crime.

That is all I have heard of it.

I remember that evil day, and the controversy surrounding it. We had just moved from Tulsa to NW Arkansas.

I remember hearing of the lesbian rumors about the councilors, true or false I don't know.

A man brought in bloodhounds to try and find a trail of the killers but other professional bloodhound trainers said the man knew nothing about how to train a bloodhound and actually destroyed evidence by having a helicopter spray water in the area claiming it would make the scents better for the dogs.
Then one of my wife's kin, who had been on the search party, told me he knew that the real killer was in prison and some day a prisoner nicknamed “Black Death” would take care of him.

Needless to say, we always carried firepower when we went between Tulsa and Arkansas over old Hy 33. Now that I think of it, I still carry firepower when going to Tulsa!

Female pedophiles are not always dragged into things under the influence of male predators. It happens that like minded perverts sometimes seek each other out.

An example of this would be the late science fiction writer Marion Zimmer Bradley and her second husband Walter Breen.

Peas in a pod.
