I happened to find something in Wikipedia, while I was researching the Jordanian Air Force’ capabilities. I have not seen this in news articles:

Apparently, U.S. special forces attempted on Jan. 1 to rescue Lt. al-Kasasbeh, but the US’ helicopters were driven off by heavy fire from ISIS.
