Vice President Joe Biden wont commit to attending Benjamin Netanyahus speech to a joint session of Congress next month.
Hes not the only one.
Dozens of House Democrats are privately threatening to skip the March 3 address, according to lawmakers and aides, in in whats become the lowest point of a relationship between the Israeli prime minister and President Barack Obama thats never been good.
Democrats have had to balance publicly supporting Israel with backing Obama, whos trying to close a deal with Iran to curb its nuclear programs over vehement opposition from Netanyahu, who has expressed concerns that the U.S. president is being naive. Negotiations are facing a deadline at the end of March for a political framework.
The speech was devised by House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Israeli ambassador Ron Dermer to provide Netanyahu a prominent Washington platform to warn about the dangers of the proposed deal with Iran.
Ever since the uproar over the invitation first exploded two weeks ago, the Israelis have worked to try to quash any question of partisan maneuvering. On Tuesday, an Israeli official said theyre hoping the situation will be resolved by the time Netanyahu arrived in Washington.
We appreciate the great bipartisan support for Israel in Congress and hope that members of Congress will be willing to listen to the prime minister on an issue which threatens Americas national security, and Israels very survival, the official said.
Boehners office says he doesnt plan to reschedule the speech, which had already been moved from Feb. 11 to March 3 so Netanyahu can attend the American Israel Public Affairs Committees annual policy conference.

This should provide Boner and McConnell additional hints as to what sort of people they are dealing with in the Dems. They better learn to play tough and for keeps or the Dems will walk all over them, no matter how many seats they now hold in Congress.
What do they care? American Jews will still vote for them, en masse.
I’m LOVING it -— a ‘RAT free Congress!
Probably too good to be true.
Good reason for GOP to do the same for Bamis last SOTU...
“The GOP better take the gloves offthey are still being played.”
The gop faction of the uniparty isn’t being played. This is just act II in their glorious kabuki thestre where they feign opposition.
Oh Noes! Now boner is going to have to disinvite Bibi!
Very good idea. Maybe the house should hold some votes just before and just after Bibi's speech.
As soon as Netanyahu’s gone get both houses to:
1. Vote for Fair Tax and abolish the IRS
2. Build a wall on the Southern border
3. Impeach Obama
Yeah, I know cloture will stop it, but I can dream!
I keep saying that Treason and Subversion needs to come back into Vogue.
Their ignorance, not ours...
and they want Hillary to be POTUS...right..totally ignorant.
Let them. Who cares?
I think it would be great if the Dems skipped the speech. Then they can’t comment on it later! Plus the whole world can watch them have their collective hissy fit!
and while they’re gone, Boehner should bring up for a vote every controversial bill on the House’s plate, same for McConnell with the Senate. Then let Bibi talk.
They’ve been mad for a long time now.
if the D’s won’t even attend Bibi’s speech,
it will be a HUGE election bonus for the Republicans
perhaps the biggest boost to the Repubs in my lifetime
Yup. And if it wasn't for a lapdog media smoothing over their absolute insanity daily, everyone would see the truth.
Anti-Jewish Democrats Boycott Jewish Prime Minister
if Boehner had invited the IslamoNazi dictator of Krapistan,
you can bet the D’s would attend.....
Let’s hope that the republicans stick to their guns and that they livestream Netanyahu’s speech. Let’s hope he tells it like it really is and what a dirtbag president we have, who is supporting all the things America has never stood for in the past. Let the dirty truth out.
