“I guess being for freedom would be really unusual?” he said during a Monday CNBC appearance. “I don’t understand the point why that would be controversial.” - Sen. Rand Paul (R).

No.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

As specified in the First Amendment, religious objections to vaccination are sufficient to override a public health desire to reduce the spread of non-fatal diseases. You cannot vaccinate a child from Measles, or Chicken Pox just for an abstract public benefit. I like Dr. Carson, but he doesn't understand the importance of the Constitution as written. It takes an extremely strong public threat to override even the least prominent phrase of the Constitution. The Bill or Rights is not a suicide pact, but it is very close to that absolute.

I know that Carson knows the following: Not all patients are the same. One patient may have immunodeficient disease, AIDS, treatment for cancer, or even severe nutritional deficiency, such that they cannot muster an appropriate immune response, thus rendering the patient unable to manufacture immunoglobulins or an amnestic response to the antigen. Now, I realize Carson was not in a venue to give a lecture on the antigen-antibody reaction to an unsophisticated audience on this subject. However, the broad brush is not Carsons tool of choice.

We know that the 'flu' antigen (virus particle) changes each fall season and as many times as not the CDC gets the type of influenza virus wrong. Who, then, according to Judge Napolitano's theory, will be held responsible for being the "proximate cause" of someone contracting the flu at a school? Well the CDC, or politicians be personally, criminally, and civilly be held responsible for their decision? Obviously not. What about the TB which now invades our country from the south and preteens are coming down with active Tuberculosis? That was 'essentially' eradicated prior to the year 2000, except in alcoholic, druggies, and those with nutritionally related diseases. And that 1;5000 child who contracts encephalitis from a routine Rubella injection which renders them paralyzed for life or outright kills them . Those are real numbers accepted by the CDC as an appropriate risk/reward ratio? Each year 18,000 people in this country die from influenza. Where is the governmental compunction? Now we are told on these inane news reports that the government 'owns' the children . I was taught in medical school that the government takes control of the corpse in such cases, but does not own the body.

And it was just a few years ago that we had dozen of people who came down with fungal encephalitis, killing some, paralyzing others, when during the manufacturing the quality controls were not held to and ruined some live. I am a Texas, I like Perry, though I do not think he is presidential timber. But he was dead wrong siding with Merck on the Guardicil issue. We wills be dealing with the fallout of the Herpes vaccine for several decades. Human frailty.

Settled Science? Pure malarkey. Not in science is ever settled. We keep learning more about it. We keep trying to make it better. And for 'scientists', whatever that is, to not stand up and scream to shut up and stop the discount is unforgivable.

So much to say, So little time to say it.

“Certain communicable diseases have been largely eradicated by immunization policies in this country and we should not allow those diseases to return by foregoing safe immunization programs, for philosophical, religious or other reasons when we have the means to eradicate them.”

(To be fair, he did also imply there could be extenuating circumstances that can be considered (from another article).)

And another;http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3234379/posts

Carson found himself crossways with gun rights supporters last week when he suggested that cops should be trained to shoot for the legs instead of center mass i.e. the torso of the body. Carson’s comments once against highlight the fact that he’s not well versed or thought out on issues relating to firearms and law enforcement.

Sounds like those lunatics out in Ferguson, freaking out about law enforcement. IDIOT.

“we should not allow those diseases to return by foregoing safe immunization programs,”

And there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Dr Ben Carson does not “get it” from a philisophical perspective. As smart as he is, we know he has the capability, however he has not studied enough on the subject.

The bottom line is that this measles outbreak was not caused “by foregoing safe immunization programs,” it was caused by the flood of the worlds poorest, disease ridden, most illiterate children crossing our southern border and not being subjected to any screening.

Those who so easily forget such recent history, are not valid to be presidential candidates...
