Officials launched a nationwide manhunt Monday for a 26-year-old Georgia man suspected of murdering five people, including his wife and other family members, whose bodies were discovered in their suburban home Saturday evening.
Thomas J. Lee, of Troup County, is wanted for the murders of four family members and a family friend. The bodies were found Saturday night but authorities believe the deaths occurred Wednesday, Troup County Sheriff James Woodruff told Lagrange Daily News. Woodruff added that the U.S. Marshals Service has been called in to assist in the search.
According to Lagrange Daily News, the victims were identified Sunday as Thomas J. Lees wife Christie Lee, 33; her daughter Bailey Burtron, 16; Christie Lees parents, Sheila Burtron, 68, and William Burtron, 69; and family friend Iiaonna Green, 18, who recently moved into the home located in a suburb outside LaGrange, about 80 miles southwest of Atlanta and just east of the Alabama state line.
The bodies were discovered after William Burtrons employer told 911 dispatchers hed not been to work in several days and requested law enforcement officers check on his safety, Woodruff told the paper.
