As February begins, it is time again to look at the rankings of conservative websites.  Using Alexa's web analytics and monitoring a suite of over 100 sites, here are the top 40 conservative websites for February 2015 based on their U.S. rankings.

Fox News has moved up into the top 50 of all websites in the United States, and the Wall Street Journal has also cracked the top 100.  Fox News is now ahead of the Washington Post (57th) and The Guardian (101st) for web traffic, and is catching up on the Huffington Post (26th) and the New York Times (29th).

How is ‘conservative’ determined?

RE: How is ‘conservative’ determined?

It looks like from the list, their definition seems to be — any site that’s not sympathetic to Democrats.

If Fox News is #1 then they are using the term “conservative” very loosely.

Good question. Eye of the beholder I suppose.

I don't see Instapundit for example.

Is that considered more 'libertarian' than conservative?

Any ranking that puts the Wall Street Journal in even the top 100,000 of conservative websites has got to be suspect.

Except for a part of their editorial and opinion pages, theirs is a news organization dominated by the usual far-left writers.

I always start here then, maybe, click on those other sites.

"Very loosely" is probably the way it should be defined.

I'm a 'big tent' sort of Republican who wants all the friends and allies possible even though I sometimes have to hold my nose.

I know some of my more religious friends consider me to be out on the sketchy libertarian fringe.

"I always start here then, maybe, click on those other sites."

On those rare days when FR is down it feels like there's no point even going on the internet at all.

No point getting out of bed, or getting dressed...

Yes, there are a few I would question. I was wondering if it was ‘self identification’ or the author’s subjectivity or some other metric.

That is the question, what is “conservative”?

Is Fox News conservative? I don’t think so.

Is DrudgeReport conservative? All they do is link to other sites.

Reason is libertarian, not conservative

National Review is establishment and lionized Nelson Mandela

Even their op-ed is more establishment (and pro-open borders)

It looks like from the list, their definition seems to be — any site that’s not sympathetic to Democrats and are willing to print and publish articles opposed to them.

If true, no wonder America is in such trouble. No real conservative would have followed the path we have and are now following.
