I didn’t suggest the kid didn’t earn his fate. I only stated a fact that the kid lived right next door.
This could strain your relationship with your neighbor.
Seriously, I can't imagine shooting the kid next door. It is possible that the elderly couple had known the kid his entire life.
To continue living next door to the parents after this might be impossible for me
He thought they were easy prey, they're old, defenseless, that he could steal all the pain meds his heart desired.
The sad part for the homeowner is that he and his wife probably knew this punk as a young boy, seeing him everyday etc....It would be hard to live with regardless if this "kid" had a weapon on him or not.
He was apparently looking for drugs. I’m sure he thought he’d avail himself of the lady’s pain meds. 19 years old. The drug problem does not just effect the individual. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the leading cause of robbery to support an ever increasing habit and homicide in this county. The poor man has to live with knowing he killed his young neighbor - I’m not suggesting he didn’t do the right thing because he absolutely did, but still, this would have to haunt him because he is the type of person who has a conscience and has demonstrated it by defending his home and family. It’s what separates civilized man from the common thug who would feel no remorse having taken a life.
