I just went out. The deepest snow I could find was 7” on top of a dumpster on 5th Avenue. Most of the sidewalks have already been shoveled by building workers, but I found an untouched stop on the ground on 15th St. About 3” in one place, and 6” in a ‘snowdrift’.

Looks like the total lockdown of NYC was unnecessary.
Even if they finally do total out to 12 inches, NYC should easily be able to keep up with a foot of snow overnight without locking down the city.
This appears to be just an ordinary heavy January snowfall for most of the area that was supposed to get “epic” amounts of snow, and much ado about very little for the rest of the area.
Unions make money off of workers through dues which are a very small percentage of a worker’s pay. I don’t know how you could manage to blame a union for this. It is management that orders when, where and how the roads are to be plowed, not the union. And last time I checked, people don’t work for free.
So far in the greater Hartford, snow is coming down but at least the bird feeder in my back yard can be seen still. The birds are having fun!
Travel ban in NYC lifted.
Looks like Boston is getting it pretty good.
What a rebel!
Were you hassled by the man?
There are large numbers of people out on the streets. Walking around was not actually banned at any time.
Say Mr. Mayor, how does that power taste?
This time.
Yesterday 8-14 inches of snow were predicted for the Albany NY area, the latest forecast is for NO SNOW. If the weather models cannot accurately predict what will happen in 24 hours, how can they predict what will happen in 20 years?
Sounds like the “monster” was only semi-historic.
Holy Cow !
It’s pretty bad in Central NH right now.
Last night, during the “we’re all gonna die” phase of the news coverage, we were nailed at 30.17” and calm for the longest time. Right now, during the “it’s not such a big deal” phase, we’re at 29.74” and falling rapidly, with sustained winds 25-30 and snow (horizontal) that makes visibility near zero.
Snow on the ground is still blowing around so we have bare spots and hip-high drifts. If it snows all day like they say, could wind up with a lot.
They’re standing in the wrong place. All they need to do is come to my house. 18 inches so far and its supposed to be blizzard conditions for the next 6-8 hours.
The 2’ - 3’ is out here on Long Island.
That is if he can get the cops to arrest people.
BLIZZARD - noun - A device that stops black-on-black crime in large cities located in the Unites States of America.
I guess the good news is that no one was killed during any of yesterday’s weather forecasts and press conferences.
