America has plenty of unskilled unemployed citizens that will work. If the price of a head of lettuce or a Big Mac is $5 so be it.
Hey Clint did you watch Sons of Liberty last night?
Actually I've seen similar reports to this one.
"For a typical household, a 40 percent increase in farm labor costs translates into a 3.6 percent increase in retail prices. If farm wages rose 40 percent, and this wage increase were passed on to consumers, average spending on fresh fruits and vegetables would rise about $15 a year, the cost of two movie tickets. However, for a typical seasonal farm worker, a 40 percent wage increase could raise earnings from $10,000 for 1,000 hours of work to $14,000 lifting the wage above the federal poverty line."
U.C. Davis is right there in California's multi-billion dollar agriculture just about twelve miles from the Capital.
I have not read the book. The article seemed to me to be saying what the excerpt states. Though it worries me a little that the Nytimese published the U.C. Davis professor's study.
BTW I wish more conservative media personalities would use and cite U.S. federal government statistics as Mr. Levin did at the beginning. Let the aging 1960's Marxist-Alinsky campus radical, psycho spoiled brats and their ideological litter occupying buildings in D.C. lie their way out of those numbers.
Correction, First Tie.
