Award-winning veteran actor and storyteller Sir Ben Kingsley was among the dignitaries at the first day of the Let My People Live Forum in Prague, and used the opportunity to explain why in his view Europe has failed to fully come to terms with the crimes of the holocaust. [ ]
One of the greatest tragedies, he insisted, was the fact that in his view, Europe did not grieve in 1945. It moved on. It found another enemy; it found other issues. The first step in healing is for us to collectively grievewe have missed that crucial step. As a result, he warned, we are in terrible danger, because of missing the step of grieving, of sliding back. [ ]
(H)e lamented that some in Europe were determined to forgetironically, as a pretext to perpetuate anti-Semitismrelating a particular experience he had at the set of one of his films in the Hungarian capital of Budapest. An old man approached the movies cast to ask what they were filming. Upon hearing the production would be about the holocaust, he retorted, It never happened, and if you dont shut up, it will happen again!
How about that? Isn't that totally screwy? asked an incredulous Kingsley.

Can you tell me where I can read up on this new European lie? They make me sick!
Mercy, sounds like he’s a bit full of himself, no ? :)
Sorry, I loathe Sascha Baron Cohen.
Oh, yes! He’s been tortured about his for years, lol! I had forgotten The Sopranos tv series made fun of him.
I saw it on some wacko’s FB page. And she had people agreeing with her. So I extrapolated from there. I don’t know if there is any ‘official’ source. Thank the Lord.
He was real good in “Hugo” though.
The Sopranos tv series made fun of him
He is right. They haven’t faced what happened, and they haven’t faced their own countries’ role in it. After all, it wasn’t just the Germans. French police rounded up French jews, Belgian police rounded up Belgian jews, Hungarian police rounded up Hungarian jews. And so on.
And in part because as he says they haven’t grieved, and they haven’t faced their own national culpability, they do not understand the genesis of modern Israel, and they miss the connection between Islam and Nazism.
Depends on who you mean by “they”.
The “bigger” nations got a big boost thanks to US aid. And then “they” had the distraction of the Cold War, under which “they” could do a lot of things under the radar.
Well stated.
A new Dolchstoßlüge?
I can understand that. After all the physical and emotional pain, the anguish, death, destruction, and devastation all around you, I could see that it would be difficult to openly grieve more and squeeze a tear. By nature, whether we voice it or not, we often lay the blame for our own trouble and misfortunes at the feet of others. I can see the difficulty for common people, going about their private lives, to connect the dots on how they may have personally contributed to the war and holocaust, whether by some action or inaction of their own doing.
I am not willing to condemn all Europeans for WWII when I look around and see the ignorance, self-indulgence and licentious lifestyles that are causing our country to go to hell in double-time. Our citizens do not see their indifference, lifestyle choices and morality as putting our nation at risk. There were those in Europe that saw the danger, too, only to be swept aside by the propaganda fueled lemmings. It is hard to be critical when we are traveling down a similar path. I wish I were wrong.
I HATED Hugo. I hate that guy. Sorry.
Well, I’m old enough to remember all the movies of the 60s like “The Sorrow and the Pity” which documented the Holocaust from the French point of view. And who can forget the Klaus Barbie trial which ignited a fire storm of regret and denial? I would not say the French haven’t faced up to facts and according to a German friend, the Holocaust is taught in schools. It’s actually the Japs who need to own up to the horror they caused in the 30s and 40s.
Yep, that's what they say, all right.
Even so, secular morals/ethics will never get the job done. The heart of hatred of the Jews is hatred of HaShem, yet in none of the commemorations of the Holocaust (or other official poo-pooing of anti-Semitism) is G-d ever mentioned. Instead a totalitarian religious relativism is declared the only solution and the fact that some non-Jews actually believe their own religions are objectively true is implicitly made the root of all evil.
The association of the Jews with militant secularism (with Jewish observance carefully exempted in the name of "multiculturalism") is only going to make anti-Semitism worse.
This is absolutely true. They teach nothing, they admit nothing.
They have atoned for the holocaust by opening their borders to muslims by the millions and forbidding any criticism of Islam.

Little compare and contrast.
Theres a movement in loony anti-Israel circles that claim that Hitler only killed anti-Zionist Jews (and was supported by Zionists). It takes all kinds.
..............
Stalin started the doctor’s plot in 1953 as set up to exterminate Russia’s Jews in another holocaust principally because he distrusted their loyalty after the formation of Israel.
