I think that many Grunts of my era, VN, think of the comradeship and good times and forget how badly it sucked.

I came from an area where most of the guy's,in my town served in either the Marines or Army. Looking back I am surprised how many of them, after a short period of lunacy, reintegrated into normal life and are now living old and fat in Fla.

I think part of it was that so many served there was an informal support group of people with similar experiences to talk to, similar to WW2 Vets.
