Weird Al Yankovic does not spend a whole lot of time on the road, possibly because its really, really difficult and expensive to stage like 20 different music-video parodies per show. But after the success of last years album Mandatory Fun, Yankovic has announced plans to hit the road heavily this summer, hitting practically every town in the U.S. and Canada from May to September, and then heading to Europe in September and October.
Hell stop at a few festivals, but hes mostly playing bigger venues (including a surprising number of casinos) on his own. This man has decades worth of goofy novelty hits, and he is absolutely committed to entertaining you at all times, so you could probably think of worse things to do with your night. Weird Al is an artist who is absolutely at the top of his game.
Hope he never retires. He’s funny, did a great show, and has wonderful parodies.
This. Belongs. In. Breaking. News.
That’s the hip thing for entertainers to do these days. Declare retirement and then go back into the biz. Then retire again!
That’s a lot of cities, but the venues are tiny. We’re talking casinos and tiny theaters. It won’t be a massive stadium production. My girl T Swift’s 2015 tour is going to be massive and awesome!
This is the Modern Music Ping List. Our topic is music from the 20th and 21st century, from Ravel and Shostakovich through to the Synth Pioneers and beyond.
Topic suggestions are always welcome, and pings to music-related threads are appreciated.
FReepmail or reply to this post to be added to or removed from this list.
I also think that he released all his work from any copyright restrictions.
“It looks brutal. I hope it’s not a drop-dead schedule.”
I worried about that, too. With the amount of energy he expends in each act, we all have to pray his heart holds out.
Not quite yet. He's now 55.
Something stinks in Denmark.
Sorry for my last post. I see you were referring to Alice Cooper, not Weird Al.
