“Weird Al” Yankovic does not spend a whole lot of time on the road, possibly because it’s really, really difficult and expensive to stage like 20 different music-video parodies per show. But after the success of last year’s album Mandatory Fun, Yankovic has announced plans to hit the road heavily this summer, hitting practically every town in the U.S. and Canada from May to September, and then heading to Europe in September and October.
He’ll stop at a few festivals, but he’s mostly playing bigger venues (including a surprising number of casinos) on his own. This man has decades’ worth of goofy novelty hits, and he is absolutely committed to entertaining you at all times, so you could probably think of worse things to do with your night. One of the best parts of the show is when he plays his old AL TV clips, like his “interview” with Eminem, it’s hilarious.
Do you know what’s great about Weird Al? He never talks politics. He could be the biggest stark raving nuts liberal and you’ll never know it. You go to see him for the performance and you’re never disappointed.
