On August 7, 2014, U.S. District Judge Richard H. Kyle, no relation to Chris Kyle, upheld the jury's award of $500,000 in defamation damages and adopted the jury's advisory award of $1,345,477.25 in unjust enrichment as "reasonable and supported by a preponderance of the evidence".
Good for the lowlife Ventura, I guess. Judges also uphold queer marriage and 0bamacare. So what?
If Ventura had a shred of honor he would have deferred after Kyle passed, but of course he has no honor. Curious you are so compelled to defend the likes of him here.
You do know that “preponderance of the evidence” is the lowest possible legal standard, right? It’s like 50.1% vs. 49.9%.
And like another poster mentioned, given the wacko Minnesota populace that voted him in as governor there, no surprise a similar jury found for their ex governor.
Boils down to who they want to believe more. They wanted to believe him.
And the “witness” who eavesdropped on him in the bar, who is his friend, laughable.
And the appeals judge who found the jury verdict “reasonable”? Appeals judges can only reverse on errors in law or procedure, not on a jury’s opinion.
