So every time we build a road or clear off an acre for a house, we are committing a sin?

How much sin was created building all of those huge Catholic churches?

Or jetting to South America.

He should have ridden a donkey to the shore and taken a saing ship.

I think this is a simplistic interpretation of what Pope Francis says and allows the liberals to monopolize the issue of environmental preservation. Good stewardship of our earth is a Christian obligation and doesn’t mean killing off the whales, dolphins, or engaging in mass deforestation. Francis is simply calling man to the Christian virtue of using resources in a manner that does not threaten human extinction. This is not a liberal issue and for God’s sake we ought not to engage in knee jerk reaction and surrender the preservation of the environment to the liberals and secularists.

The Pope did not say that. We are supposed to respect all creation because it comes from God. We should treat it as the gift it is. Which means to use it wisely for our benefit and not to squander it. Being stewards of creation does not mean to worship nature. It does mean that we must remember that as Christians we are to embrace practices that will uphold the dignity of the human person and help them live better lives. Destroying land and water that people depend on for their livelyhoods is wrong.

The pope is worried about rising waters. Perhaps he thinks he is Noah.
