If a politician can pretend to be a Republican in order to win office in a Republican State / Congressional district (they seem as countless as the stars these days) then one in a State like Hawaii with a military background, courage, and common sense could certainly pretend to be a Democrat. Or she has sense enough to realize that the whole “Religion of Peace” song and dance is increasingly just making people angry. Or, possibly most likely, her party affiliation is based on one issue (abortion).
