Go ahead and read that headline again. Yes, Magpul is making a magazine for the worlds most reliable pistol, the Glock 17. Cryptically titled the PMAG 17 GL9, this polymer replacement for the standard Glock 17 magazine appears to match the originals reliability to a tee. It differs from the original with the inclusion of a stippled baseplate and bright orange follower, the former is to aid in magazine retention during reloads.
One detail that appears to be missing is whether the magazines feature metal feed lips or a metal skeleton like factory magazines. If this magazine were made by any company other than Glock or Magpul, itd be a pass for most serious shooters. Since compromising an otherwise reliable platforms magazine durability for no perceivable gains is short-sighted at best. Which isnt to say that metal feed lips make or break durability, but they dont hurt it.

After buying their 4 sling and plastic AR rear sight, my experience is Magpul products are a real value: low price, good quality.
C-products for cheap, quality AR magazines. I haven’t tried MP mags yet.
I guess I’ll have to stick with my 15 round Glock 19 mag.
I don’t think the Glock 17 is the world’s most reliable pistol tho it probably would be up there with the best.
The Beretta M9 is probably the most reliable or maybe the Sig/Sauer P-226. I have owned a bunch of Browning Hi-Powers and since around 1968 I have never had one jam. I did have some machine pistol ammo which would often require a second strike from the Browning but that is really not the gun’s fault.
Magpul
Buy em cheap and stack em deep.
Amen.
If I were in a band, I might stuff one a them Glock 33 round mags down the front of mah britches.
Spinal Double tap.
Heh
My 17 Gen 3 has never let me down.
I’ll be looking at getting one or two.
I have had a couple of Glocks jam but I learned the problem was Glock turned out some bad mags and mine were part of that bunch.
Mine was also first generation. They probably have all the kinks worked out by now and they never were bad.
I got to thinking about it and I did have a Browning jam. The problem was a crappy, really bad USA mag. I got it during the shortage and couldn’t find anything else for under a hundred dollars.
Never had a jam with Browning, Mecgar, or Argentine military mags. I also have a 30 round mag of unknown origin but it runs perfect and appears to be of good quality.
I’d rather have a 15 rounder for my G21.
Another MAGPUL fan here. High quality, reliable gear at least as far as my AR goes. It’ll be interesting to see if they continue on to a Glock 22 - I could use some mags.
I have a compact Beretta in 40 cal. I have not kept accurate count of the rounds thru it, but it is well over 5000 probably pushing 10,000. It is the only handgun I own, including Glocks, that I have never had any kind of jam. It is also still running on the original recoil spring. Just saying...
I had one of the very early Beretta model 92s. It had the mag release near the bottom of the grip. It also had a really heavy double action but the single action was OK.
One think tho, like yours it never ever jammed in any way. I eventually sold it to a guy who thought it was maybe a collectors item. I have no idea if it was or not.
I have since owned several of the newer ones with the same reliability plus they have better double action triggers. Still not great tho.
Looking at the gun with the slide back and a loaded mag, you can sort of tell why it is so reliable. The bullet nose is right in line with the chamber. The barrel doesn’t drop down and then go back up as with most other locked breech autos.
The HK USP is probably the most reliable handgun.
It could be, HK makes really nice guns.
I did have an HK-4 which jammed around ever other round. It had both .32 and .22LR barrels. You reversed the breech with the supplied screwdriver when changing between rimfire and centerfire.
It was also available with .380 and .25 barrels. I have no idea why anyone would get the .25.
The gun was based on the Mauser HSc and had a good reputation but mine was awful.
The MAGPUL gen-3 for my AR-15 are the best you can buy. Glock anything not so much. You want a real CC weapon, save your penny’s and get a Sig 226 .40 cal. If it’s good for U.S. Navy Seals to take into combat than it works on my strong side every day.
The acceptance test for the Navy had the USP fire 35,000 rounds without a failure. When the gun got too hot to hold, they’d throw it in a bucket of water to cool down.On the other hand,I’ve got a 1911 that I’ve put 65K through, never have had any part fail on that gun.
