Some of the more sane people in Germany would urge Hitler to make peace. In one sense Hitler was more rational than they were. He knew this war was personal; the allies were bent on the destruction of Nazi Germany and German militarism. There were going to be war crimes trials, and he was going to be the star defendant. Hitler knew he was going to be displayed in a cage like a monster (which he was).

There wasn’t going to be a negotiated peace.

No, there wasn't. Even if Hitler had realized his pipe dream of driving all the way to Antwerp, Roosevelt and Churchill wouldn't have made a separate peace. It is personal now. Plus, Churchill would never have abandoned all of Germany to Stalin.
