After ISIS Twitter threat, military families rethink online lives

(CNN)—One military wife recalls staying up all night and deleting every Facebook picture of her children, every post that mentioned them or where they went to school. She Googled herself, trying to figure out how easy it would be to find where the family lived. In the morning, she went to her car and scraped the military decal off the front window.

As the spouse of a Special Forces soldier, she's always tried to be conscious of how much she advertises that she and her three young children are a military family.

"It's hard because I am so proud of what my husband does, but lately so many spouses that I know are actually scared that they could be targets of ISIS or someone who sympathizes with ISIS," she said, asking that CNN keep her name out of the story for that reason.

This week brought the latest in a string of attacks that members of military families say has spooked them into quietly changing the way they operate online and in real life.

Lori Volkman, who is married to a commanding officer, said she knows military members and spouses who have stopped openly carrying their uniforms to their car after a visit to the dry cleaners.

Some have stopped wearing clothing with military insignia and are more careful when they open their wallet to avoid showing military IDs or payment cards.

Our own Military, in their own country don't feel safe, and the muslim-in-chief golfs.

Don’t look like much has changed at Ft Bragg.

Was at Golden Coral by the Mall for lunch, a good 1/3 of the crowd was active duty from the post and in ACUs.

Just about pick any house in town by random and you got a 50/50 chance of getting somebody military, military retired or GS.

I squarely blame every Effing progressive and adle brained RINO for our disasterous immigration policies.
Diversity is Not our strength.
Generousity and exploiting cheap foreign labor has welcomed and embedded the islamo enemy within our midst.

Does anyone remember a book written about 7-10 years ago by some well known author....starts out with a terrorist getting off of a commercial Jet at JFK; rents a car; consults his list then starts driving for the first of ? vengeance killings across America.

EVERYONE should re-think their online lives, to be honest.

I have never, ever had a Facebook account and I have friends, do fun things, and keep up on the news of the day in my community and world.

The only difference is that I don’t tell strangers about it.

To say that you just “need it” is a fabrication.

Everyone should fly the flag of a military organization or military unit, i.e USMC, Navy, Air Force, 101st Airborne, 1st Marine Division, etc. Doesn’t matter whether or not you were a military member. You can fly these flags to honor active duty members and veterans.

Flying a flag will cause confusion among the Muslim apes because they won’t know if military personnel live at that house. Plus if you’re attacked, you can place rounds in the terrorist apes to see how tight your group is and whether or not you need more time on the range.

This could cause a military coup. You can imagine just how pissed a seal would be if his family was harmed back in the states. Maybe they’d go ahead and take out the entire muslim continent all by themselves.

Some of us work for a living and don’t want our house burned down by said apes while gone.

Will I still wear my 101st hat? Yes.

Sometimes I wonder ... The enemy wears no uniform and is harder to recognize. Since the enemy wears no uniform while seeking targets inside America, would it not be wiser to abandon the uniform in favor of being a bit more safe? I know this a capitulation to the enemy but I’d rather see a dead enemy than a dead American Soldier.

“Some of us work for a living and don’t want our house burned down by said apes while gone.”

Then organize your neighborhood so your house won’t get burned down. I fly the USMC flag at my house, and I’m not a bit worried about Muslim apes.

Understand, but my imagination sees only three conclusions to the problem. Two work out well. One does not.

My Blue Star Flag will hang in the front window until it is not necessary or applicable. Which ever comes first.

Same here. It's called OPSEC. In today's world, it's generally a good idea.

“Same here. It’s called OPSEC. In today’s world, it’s generally a good idea.”

True, but OPSEC was to protect the soldiers - loose lips sink ships.

This is the reverse. ISIS is using facebook/twitter to track down the families here on U.S. soil, not the soldiers in the field of battle.

This, my friend, is a new era for the military families.

They are the best at adapting. You can bet your sweet bippy they will.
