Yes, there'll always be the handful of ass-kissing toadies who'll go along with anything, but their subsequent lifespan should prove satisfyingly short.
I hold that the VAST majority of those in the Armed Forces are motivated, above all else, by a bedrock belief in the Constitution and of doing the RIGHT thing.
Throughout my enlisted and officer career I know that the majority of those I knew were dedicated to the Constitution and not any particular commander or president. I am still in contact with a lot of younger troops over the 21 years since retiring and that observation has not changed much. The troops and their officers today are much more aware of the commitment to the Constitution and the difference between lawful and unlawful orders. General officers who are mostly political by nature might, and I say might follow unlawful orders but they would not last long if they tried to follow orders to march against the American public.
