“Paid leave? Do you really want paid leave?”

People have paid leave in most companies. You know that, so stop the macho bullsh*t. You sound like a petulant child. Grow up, kid.

Paid leave for having a baby sounds great.

Keep in mind though the people favoring it are the same people busy destroying traditional families.

This is a political talking point, not a serious, well-thought out proposal to strengthen the American family.

And when the Democrats ran Congress, they didn’t push for it - they simply want to embarrass the GOP.

Oh, good, more entitlements. That’s never been an economic problem.

Your employees don’t get paid vacations or holidays or sick days? And if they take those days, you intentionally try to sabotage their work efforts by playing employees against each other? You must be a real peach to work for.

Gee, how about using you vacation time when you have a baby if you don’t have paid leave for maternity ?

What part of left field did that crap come from?

A guy uses up all his paid leave to nurse an injury or illness, he comes back to a short stay until ANYTHING can be used to let him go. A smart businessman will not keep an employee that costs him, and he will keep an employee that makes him money. Our FRiend is expressing what most small business owners think of being told they will pay for leave. No one started and built a business to give another person a job and a paycheck. He hires a person and gives him a paycheck so that he can profit from the work the employee performs. If the job market is competitive, employers may offer benefits to compete for workers in high demand, but the profit from hiring anyone is built into any compensation plan. Business 101.

Myself, when I hire someone, they know the score going in. I pay commission only. You get sick and don’t work, you don’t make any money, because I’m not making any money. Already the state forces me to pay unemployment insurance, but I let them know, when you are laid off in the winter, you may draw unemployment, just don’t expect to be offered your job at the same pay, if at all. My guys are happy enough with the fact that I pay higher than any of my competitors. And they’re grown up enough to put money aside during the busy season when the work is plentiful, then they can enjoy a restful winter, or pick up work for the time doing something else.

It’s called personal responsibility. Comes with maturity. Otherwise, irresponsible, leftist, entitlement minded employees can go get jobs with the rest of the lefties working for the government or getting in a union job.

Socialism at it’s finest, trying to do what forced purchase of insurance for health care (ACA) could not accomplish; ensuring the collapse of the non-State controlled workforce.
