I was in Turkey mid summer and our Muslim guide was asking us to pray Turkey did not elect another fundamentalist into power. She liked her freedoms, driving, how she dressed without a burka and so forth.
Though a Muslim she hated the extremist and unfortunately after the summer they did elect an extremist jerk and you read their stupid brain in action here.

One of Ataturk’s secular reforms was to ban the wearing of the fez by males & veils by females. Too Islamic.
Israeli cartoons routinely depict Erdogan wearing a red fez, which even in Turkey itself symbolizes too much Islam in politics, when it is worn by politicians.
When Erdogan gives his next diatribe against Israel while wearing a fez, the IAF will be starting their F-16s.

the Islamic branches have renounced theocracy, as the branches of Christianity have done, with a few exceptions on the far fringes of Catholicism Theocracy is certainly an acceptable form of government for Catholics, since Jesus established the Kingdom of God, which does not exempt planet earth. While a theocratic government has many negative connotations, these negative associations are not necessary. A theocracy can tolerate other religions. There are many modern nations with established churches, like England, Finland, Denmark, Malta and Monaco.
A theocracy does have some advantages, such as a coherent basis for suppressing militant religions, like Mohammedanism.

The Northern Irish situation has ethnic as well as religious elements. In the 16th and 17th Centuries, Scottish and English settlers were encouraged by various monarchs to settle in Ireland to make the island more amenable to British rule. The effort was not entirely successful, as large numbers of these settlers, known in American history as the Scots-Irish, migrated to this country, serving as the vanguard of the pioneering of the upland South and lower Midwest. However, religious differences became the primary distinction between the settlers and the old stock Irish, especially after the latter abandoned Gaelic for English.
Similarly, the conflicts in ex-Yugoslavia in the 1990s involved the mostly Catholic Croats vs. the mainly Orthodox Serbs. Both groups speak the same language and have similar customs and genetics. As in Ireland, religion is the main distinction. There were old grudges dating back to World War II, when the Croats, who mostly sided with the Nazis, committed genocide against the Serbs, who were mostly anti-Nazi.
True enough that there has been no religious warfare among the branches of Christianity recently. However, even in our history there were instances of persecution, such as those suffered by the Mormons in Illinois and Missouri and by the Catholics in the Northeastern cities, both occurring in the 1840s and 1850s, and Klan attacks on Catholics and Jews in the 1920s.

Given the leftist agitating muslims in Western universities, he might have a point... not the whole point, but some of it. However he himself was agitated probably by same colonizing force of leftist universities.

Zero Hedge used to be a great site a couple of years ago.
Then the kooks showed up.
In the Internet age we now have the battle of the memes—and the fog of war—since we don’t who the speakers are or what their agenda may be.
It may be a wild conspiracy theory to think that the kooks work for the too-big-to-fail banks and their fellow kleptocrats are on a mission to undermine Zero Hedge—or it may not be.

Given the secular character of both the Federal and state governments and the diversity of American religious beliefs, a theocracy would be very difficult to establish in this country. The U.S. Constitution prohibits religious tests for public office at the Federal level, and the states abandoned them voluntarily in the century before last. The closest this country has come to theocracy would have been in 17th Century New England and Utah before statehood.

Calm down! He’s quoting a poster from Zero Hedge; not his words but a quote!

Good God, man! You are saying nobody died, they didn't shout "Allah Akbar" and that this wasn't religiously motivated out of hate for the freedoms we enjoy in the West, including the freedom of satire? That the CIA somehow manufactured this?
That's what you're saying?!
Are you even RATIONAL?
