Cruz: GOP ‘will get walloped’ without action on Obamacare

Republicans “will get walloped” in 2016 if they do not deliver on campaign promises, such as working to scrap the controversial national health care law and blocking President Barack Obama’s immigration proposals, Sen. Ted Cruz said Monday.

The freshman Texas lawmaker said fellow Republican candidates promised during last year’s elections to scrap the health care law, which they call Obamacare, and to deny Obama’s executive actions, which they call “amnesty.” Cruz, a tea party favorite considering a White House campaign in 2016, said voters will punish Republicans in two years unless lawmakers have something to show for their new majority in the Senate and expanded majority in the House. He suggested a voting record against the policies could help win support in 2016.

“Not only will we not win elections, we will get walloped,” Cruz said. “And we will deserve to get walloped.” …

Don’t miss the point he’s making: he will be the one to take a stand against Obamacare, as he’s done already.

Ted Cruz is the best protection against getting walloped.

Obamacare is obscene. Any politician supporting it is addicted their own power and need to get the boot. Ted is my man.

No, they'll say if it weren't for the Republicans health care would be free like it is in Canada.

“freshman lawmaker”

A few things wrong with this moniker:

He’s not a freshman.
He’s more properly referred to as a “senator,”
not a lawmaker.
You’re a biased piece of media.

Wait another year to kill Obamacare????

Why in the world should we inflict that upon the American people?

Congress could end Obamacare (and amnesty) in two weeks if it got behind Ted and shut the government down. There is no way Obama would outlast Ted in a showdown. Obama would fold like a card table.

Ted Cruz, standing alone athwart history and yelling “Stop!”

Hey, gee oh pee eeeeeeeeeee: In 2016, it’s Ted Cruz or lose!
(And we’re paying close attention to how you treat conservatives.)

Why in the world should we inflict that upon the American people?

Because it won't disappear in 2015 because of the WH veto. It could save us from having it for TWO OR THREE more years, since it could mean all the difference between overriding an veto and not. Dems will be much more 'flexible' just before the 2016 elections than in 2015.

No! The whole point of a full government shutdown is that it will force Obama NOT to veto it! After a few weeks of a shutdown and pressure from the American people, Obama will cave.

That is what would have happened in 2013 had the GOPe not sabotaged Ted Cruz and caved to Obama.
