Nearly $1 in $3 in state revenue comes from the federal government, according to a new analysis.
While taxes are responsible for most state general revenues, the federal government is responsible for about 31.5 percent of the total, according to the nonprofit Tax Foundation.

Federal revenue per person, percentage of state contributions, or compared to the cost of living in that state, would be more valid indicators.
is Medicare and gas taxes calculated into this?
BTW- How is “federal money” and “state money” different?
Personally I think the federal government should fund the federal government and the state government should fund the state government.
