The funniest jokes have a measure of truth in them.

My favorite vacation was Paris, in part because the food was wonderful.

I am an Anglophile and very much enjoyed London. However, aside from excellent Indian food, the English cuisine still sucks. One exception: there is nothing as good as fresh draft Guiness from gravity taps.

Being a non-drinker and not that fond of Indian food, when I was hungry enough in London I went to several of the many presumably muslim locations — Turkish restaurants and kebab shops — and also to Chinese and Italian restaurants, provided the proprietors were suitably ethnic. The very best even tangentially English-style restaurant I went to, Sarastro in the theatre district, was founded by a Cypriot (possibly a Turkish muslim, but by no means an ascetic, as evidenced by the jolly pornographic decor in the restrooms).
