Those that did not vote for the son of a bitch have my empathy, but we have suffered long and lots. Let those that inflicted him upon us get a piece of the action for a change.
Evidence continues to mount that the American people are just plain stupid.
I wonder if Rush ever ventures out into the raw, un-vetted public as a private person. He would be hard to disguise, but it can be done, so long as he doesn’t speak. I would think as great as it is to be “Romney Level Rich” as Rush is, it may get lonely. He seems to be a genuine ‘people person’. Of course, in this day and age, there may actually be enough of the very rich (with their families, with their pets and pet projects) to provide him and his wife with a circle of friends.
I’m impressed that someone with profound hearing loss can continue working on talk radio. It’s truly remarkable. He could sell a few million books just writing on how he and his assistants produce the show under the conditions of hearing loss.
There are a lot better places to save money than the IRS.
There's a schedule that people will pay fines. The fines are cheaper than policies the first couple years on purpose. It doesn't take long, though, that the fines end up being more expensive than the policies, but the fines being cheaper than the policy are designed to get people to pay the fines first if they don't want insurance. It's a psychological thing. And I remember telling people, the only way the IRS is empowered to collect the money is by seizing money from you via your tax return.
PFL
This whole mess is incredibly complex. In the ‘hood, “fast tax” offices pop up on every street corner in January. Does anybody know if the law also allows IRS to not pay EITCs in addition to garnishing refunds?
In the rap world, when one of them becomes successful and leaves the 'hood, a lot of idiots pile on:
You've gone all Hollywood, you should keep it real and stay in da 'hood...!
We're better, right? NOPE..! You'd think so, right? But we're not.
A lot of Conservatives begrudge Rush's success and they want him to be morose.
I never understood that.
This is why I did not worry. I don’t get a refund and don’t plan on ever getting a refund the rest of my life.
That’s what I’ve been saying for years.
The goal should be to owe as much as possible on April 15th without having to pay a penalty.
Rather keep the money I have and pay then to have the gubmint keep it.
I haven’t seen the 2014 1040 yet but won’t they just include any TAX on that form so no matter if you are supposed to get a refund or not, it will be added to the tax you owe? So if you owed $100 on your tax return, the fact that you hadn’t purchased insurance caused a $1000 fine so now you would owe $1100?
Bttt.
As opposed to putting it in a bank and drawing a whopping 00.17% interest.
About three years ago, I got about $5,000 tax refund. We had adopted two children and I gave no thought to the tax implications of that until tax preparing time. I immediately adjusted my withholdings accordingly. My goal is to owe the IRS around $100-$200 each April. I'm right on target so far.
Sounds like a take over.
Here’s how it works in 2014: there are two ACA (Øbamacare) “taxes” that may be on your return.
The first is the failure to cover everyone in your tax household. Your “shared responsibility” payment. Yes, that includes the out-of-work BIL living in the basement if you claim him as a dependent. That’s $95 a head OR 1% of your income after std deduction plus exemption (itemizing doesn’t count), which ever is GREATER. Doubles for 2015, 50% per head for the kiddies. There are some caps but they are not trivial. Earn over 400% of the Poverty Index and you are uncapped.
Second is if you got a subsidy from a healthcare exchange and made more in 2014 than you told them you would at the time, you have to pay a clawback of the “excess” Advance Premium Tax Credit. That clawback is subject to penalty if you did not withhold enough to cover it, BTW. I remember there was some Internet advice floating around at the start about low-balling your income to get a sweet subsidy. Reality sucks and I’ll bet you won’t have recourse.
Now, Rush says “have no refund” and there’s no way they can collect? Partially correct. The ACA stops the IRS from using its nuclear toolkit of Liens and Levys but you will still be on the books as owing Uncle Sam. And it will be charged interest. Forever. Chances are being in that condition just might preclude you from doing business with the gubermint in the future.
You don’t seriously think the gubermint was just going to let you escape out from under, did you Mr. Reardon?
This stuff about the tax refund fraud psychology is finance 101 common sense. Man people are stupid.
I actually once asked to get full exemptions and the secretary gave me a dirty look at work, saying the IRS would go after me. To which I replied, not if I do my taxes in April and pays them.
I just do not understand why people are so stupid for the fraud, making us think that because we do not go along with the government stealing us, we could go to prison. This is absolutely unbelievable “pedophile” exploitation language.
What difference does that make? Obamacare rules are whatever Obama says they are.
They may not be able to collect of fines and overpayments to insurers but they can apply payments in such a way that any shortfall is on income taxes, which would be subject to fines, penalties and levies.
