That was an excellent segment last night.

I hope Mark has posted all available cartoons on his own website.
To: TigerClaws
Wish I had seen it. I like Steyn.

Just checked. He’s got at least some of them up.
The Hebdo cartoons, to my eyes at least, are neither funny nor particularly offensive. Though I don’t read French.
To: Sherman Logan
I don't get what the French find funny.
Like Jerry Lewis.

They won’t “like” the strong horse. They will perhaps bow to the strong horse out of fear. Big difference.

Like Jerry Lewis.
People say that, but he was a celebrity here as well. Besides being a perfect maniac at will, there was the great effort he made year after year in the Muscular Dystrophy telethons.
He's a talented comedian and a good actor.

Love Steyn but I disagree with him on this. It does not matter whether they chooses to print the cartoons or not. It matters that they not be murdered for their choice.
Self-censorship is freedom. I guess his charge is that they do not freely choose but that they are coerced. Seems to me that coercing them with the “chicken” charge is not exactly freedom loving either.
The target of criticism should be the murderers and their cohorts. Leave people alone to print or not to print whatever they want.

It’s not just the Western media that needs to “man up.” It’s Western Civilization as a whole.

IIRC, the only ‘hard copy’ US paper to print the cartoons is the WSJ.

Steyn was passionate and magnificent. He scored a direct hit on the media and the enabling 0bama administration.
